Pauline

Pauline Lattey has always been involved with art, topping her class  whilst at school in England.
She won her first art award in an art competition run by a well known UK brand of tea in which all junior schools participated. She was 10 years old at the time.

She emigrated to New Zealand with her family when she was fourteen years old and when in her teens, dress designing was a favourite pastime.

After spending a couple of years back in England and Europe in her twenties, she returned to New Zealand, married Des Lattey and became involved with their interior design business.

Pauline has a diploma in professional Interior Design, has spent two years on the council of the Design Institute of New Zealand and has presented her own Interior Design Course in seven different areas in New Zealand.

She started painting watercolours seriously in the 1980's and sold all that she painted, but when her interior design business really took off, painting was put on hold.

Painting has once come to the fore in Pauline's life.

She has entered paintings in the last few Paraparaumu Rotary Club's annual exhibitions winning best watercolour for  "Sunday Best" in 2007 and both first and merit prizes in the portrait section in 2008 with  "Elisa After the Ball" and "Finding Treasures"

Pauline loves the quality of watercolours, because she can achieve a gentle transparency and at the same time build up quite rich colours where necessary. She has a particular interest in portraiture and loves working with fine detail, striving for perfection in her art.

Pauline endeavours to make her paintings shine with the personality of the children or adults whom she paints.
